This is one of my favorite portions of this movie. You can tell pretty quickly into this segment that Vivian just doesn't belong. I think that it is interesting to see how Discourses go beyond the way that we speak. They are seen in the things we wear, how we walk, what we do.

Well, I haven't seen this movie before, but it's clear in this video clip (thanks for filling me in on the plot!) that there is a conflict of Discourses. You have the rich, upper-class women at a high-end clothing store, and you have the "regular" woman who is dressed in inexpensive, old clothes. It's a shame in this case that the only thing dividing these woman is clothing - the employees have no clue that she does in fact have a lot of money; it's purely surface level here. The scene makes the point that wealth creates so much conflict and that we still can fall in love with the "success story."
